Study or Job

There are two options you prefer after you complete your B.Sc. degree. If you are economically efficient and don’t need a job, it is better you go for your further studies. A specialization will always earn you more salary as well as priority during interviews and of course sound grip over subject. Otherwise you can find some job.

Further Studies

If you prefer to continue to studies, you can do Post graduate courses and then obtain a Ph.D. You have lots of options during this P.G course like M.Sc./ M.A, IAS/IPS, Navy/NDA and Finance related courses like MBA,MCA etc..


M.Sc.: There are many universities that offer this course. Entrance exams for Post-Graduation in Statistics Courses. If you prefer doing P.G in your field of study, you can go for M.Sc. Statistics /M.Sc. Statistics with Computer science. You can apply in Indian universities (DU, IITs, Indian Statistical Institutes etc). If you are ready to go outside India and financially sound you can prefer M.Sc. You need to appear for GRE for doing M.S/M.Sc./MBA/MCA in Foreign countries.

GRE: The Graduate Record Examination or GRE is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in English speaking countries. It is created and administered by the Educational Testing Service and is similar in format and content to the SAT. It is a computer based Online Test. The percentile scored in this exam will decide your future in doing M.S in foreign nations.

GATE: Conducted by one of seven Indian Institutes of Technology in rotation, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an annual exam for admission to M.Sc. and M.S. programmes in most institutes in India. It is regarded as a benchmark test for Bachelor/Master graduates in India . This examination is coordinated by a committee, comprising of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, and Government of India. The pattern and syllabus are usually based on a candidate's M.Sc. syllabus. Minimum eligibility for appearing in this exam is usually a M.Sc.,. The exam is usually conducted on second Sunday of February.
PSU's like BARC, NPCIL, HAL etc. give importance to GATE scores for various job positions in their organizations.

SET (State Eligibility Test): The exam is conducted for Lectureship but this is a state level exam. Candidates can only apply in the state for which they have cleared the examination .This exam will be conducted by State universities in every year
CSIR NET: It is the National Eligibility Test, conducted for science students in 5 subjects. It’s not a hard task to get an assistant professor job because of much available resources by state as well as central government. All you need is to qualify UGC NET, UGC SET or CSIR NET. For this you need to have 10+2 qualification, graduate degree from recognized university, post graduate degree from a recognized university. After everything is done you need to apply for NET exam which runs twice in a year most probably in June and November. After you apply for NET with your concerned subject and qualify for the same with much high rank, you are eligible for getting enrolled for assistant professor job. There are several states as well as central universities which hire candidates when they qualify for the NET. This is basically a professional job which deals with the expertise and sharp knowledge of the concerned subject. Statistics Students need to write Mathematical science for their Ph.D. in private /Regular mode
 UGC NET: For Students those whose have interest in interest in Demography? They need to write National Eligibility Test, conducted in 99 different subjects for Lectureship & Junior Research Fellowship, Population studies one of them.
